This week we reached 21 weeks in our pregnancy which is pretty excited, over half way there and other then being tired I am feeling pretty good. My belly is growing which is exciting, but I don't feel like I've put on too much extra weight else where, which also makes me happy. I'm sure that may change over the next few weeks, but that's life. I've been feeling the baby move a lot more which I LOVE... it's nice to know that baby is okay in there and moving around. Brandon hasn't been able to feel the baby kick yet, but I'm sure that day will come soon with the way this baby has been moving around inside. I'm loving every minute!Monday brought our ultrasound at the hospital which was AMAZING... there is no other word to describe it but that. I'm a worrier, so although I had heard our baby's heart beat a few times, seeing our baby on the screen was great reassurance that everything is going well with our little one. The baby cooperated for most of the ultrasound, giving the technician all that she was needing. It was the last few shots of the day that she needed of the heart that got tricky, my belly button was getting in the way, since the baby was hiding behind it.
Brandon was adorable at the ultrasound, I'm sure he'd hate me using that word to describe him, but he was so into it. He was sitting next to me watching, picking out what he was seeing and asking questions. It was super sweet. I think seeing the baby on the screen made it more real for him. It made me so happy to see him so excited about the ultrasound. He was pretty tired and it was an early morning for us, so I know he wanted sleep, but he was amazing. I managed to survive the killer urge to go the washroom, luckily our technician was really sweet and kept checking with how my bladder was doing.
It was so wonderful to see our baby from head to toe, to know that it has all it's limbs, bones and fingers and toes. It was neat to see our baby moving around and using it's little spine. I think the moment Brandon thought was the coolest was when we could see both of our baby's leg's all stretched out. We could see all the bones and it's little feet. It was almost like the baby was sitting on the screen, granted we couldn't see anything that would tell us our baby's gender. We were trying to look but no such luck. Our technician said she tried not to look, because I'm sure it would be hard to not slip up and say something to the parents if you knew. I think Brandon was trying to trip her up a little bit, but no such luck. We also loved seeing our little baby's heart beating right away nice and strong, every time we had the chance we would look for the little heart beat.
Everything looked great with the ultrasound, granted we are not doctors or ultrasound technicians, but all looked well. I will be happy when we go to the Dr's again, so we can hear for sure that all is well with baby Bing. We go back to see our doctor on September 1st!
Brandon had said prior to this ultrasound that he didn't want to know the gender anymore, since we have to pay to find out in Nova Scotia he felt it was too expensive and was fine with the surprise. I was NOT fine with that, I need to know what gender this baby is, for my own preparation. After our ultrasound this week, Brandon admitted that he did really NEED to know now, so we booked our ultrasound for September 9th, we will almost be 25 weeks. It probably would have been better to wait a few more weeks, so that the baby can grow even more, but I didn't want to get to far into the school year because we want to be available to sub whenever we can, plus I just didn't want to wait too much longer, because not knowing is driving me crazy.
I have noticed since the ultrasound Brandon has been much more protective... he always was protective of me before and during my pregnancy, he's been a pro at keeping the house clean and understanding when I have no energy to do things or make meals. Since the ultrasound he's been even more protective, making sure I'm not lifting anything too heavy, that I'm eating better, and that I'm getting around places safely. He even called me at work this afternoon to see how I was feeling and to see how the baby was. It was my first shift after vacation, and it was a long shift so I thought that was super sweet. It made my heart happy. He also was going to a buddy's house tonight, and usually he'll forget to leave me a message or text me his plans but tonight he remembered which I really did appreciate.
A little bummed too, our first prenatal class was tonight, but I had to work. I won't miss the other ones, but do feel bad missing. The lady running them said it was okay that the first one was mostly just information, that seemed like things I already knew.
So that's a little baby update. I didn't want to forget too much, I want to record everything about this pregnancy, but I am just so excited about this baby joining our family. I have already started my 2011 blog book so I can start writing entries that I never had time to blog on here about. I'm already pumped to get it.
I work again tomorrow morning, so it's off to bed I go! Night all!!

Fun times!!! I remember that excitement for prenatal classes until I went.....I don't think we even went to the last few.....I always found them boring and nothing preps you for labour so no worries about missing one.
Curious to see what baby is going to be.....
I love JAck Lucas most... since unlike Kathy I know he's a boy... man it would be insulting if baby o is in there
I get teary every time I read something that you post about baby Bing! :,-) I am just so very happy and excited and don't mind telling you that I am hoping for a girl! (Like what I think matters) ;-) I would love to buy girlie things for a change!!
Sorry, I made a mistake in my last comment so I had to delete it and start again. You look great! I'm excited to hear what baby will be. Hope you do a post as soon as you find out!
I'm so excited for you and Brandon. You're going to make awesome parents. I remember how protective Darren was with each pregnancy...it made everything that much more special.
What a great post!!!!My little grandbaby sounds awesome already!! You look radiant..can hardly wait for the 9th!!! Love you all...Momma
Yay! You look awesome! Our ultrasound tech did slip up and used "she" and "her" throughout. We weren't too surprized that Cali was a girl.
