White Point 2011

Well week two of winter break is beginning, and I'm pretty sad. Jennifer was supposed to come today but is now delayed by weather, so my fun filled day is now open. So I'm hoping to use the day wisely and get a lot of things done. We've been enjoying our break so far, I've been enjoying getting sleep which is always fantastic. One of my to-do's today was update my blog, I have lots to post, but will just focus on one thing today and that was our trip to White Point last week.

For Christmas Brandon's parents gave us a night at White Point. It included one night in one of their cottages, with dinner and breakfast. It also included a variety of things to choose from to do, we quickly opted for the hour massage and were pretty pumped about it!! It was just under two hours to get there, but we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to be out driving.
Both Brandon and I had never been to White Point but were pleasantly surprised, it is BEAUTIFUL there. We checked in, and were almost disappointed when she said they didn't have many spa bookings left, when I called to book the night, they told me I could just book the spa when I got there, guess NOT! Luckily they were able to find two times the following morning- phew!!

We had cottage 19, which was the second last at the end of the row of cottages and it was up on a little hill which was great. It had a beautiful view of the ocean too. The cottage consisted of a living room with a fire place, a bathroom and bedroom. We also had flowers and a fruit basket waiting for us too... so many nice things included in the package we were given.
Cottage 19, up on the hill...
We settled in and then headed over to the main lodge to explore it. The building has been there since I think 1928, the inside is really quite beautiful and rustic. We checked out the gift shop, and I later bought a tie-dyed t-shirt that says "peace, love, & bunnies". It won't be something I wear out in public because it's pretty bright, but I'll love wearing it at home. We checked out the pool, but never ended up going swimming, after a long day we were just too tired. We headed into the games room, which had some old arcade games in it, but we had a blast with some of the bigger games... Brandon beat me in Foosball and we had a FUN game of ping pong. I learned how to better play pool, and although didn't win, gave Brandon a run for his money.
Our first bunny spotting... White Point is known for their bunnies... the lady at the front desk said this year there are probably about 200 of them out there. They offer free bags of bunny food at the front desk, and these little guys sure do know the sound of the brown paper bag! They were all super cute and quickly became the excitement of our trip, living in the city you don't see many critter's like this often... it was great!
Brandon on our walk to the lodge... such beautiful surroundings.
Me enjoying the amazing day!
Th main lodge at White Point, this is the view from the back...
The spa that we visited the next day, but more about that later on...
Foosball time... Brandon is so good at this game, but I think it was an unfair advantage, he grew up with one of these in his basement.
A nice kid in the games room offered to take a picture of us together which I thought was super sweet of him to offer.

After some fun and games we headed upstairs to go for a walk with some bunny food, but I needed some Karen food first. We weren't having dinner for a few more hours so a snack was a must. We met a really nice bartender, he was an older gentlemen, and he was able to tell us more about the lodge and it's history and he showed us some pictures on the wall which was fascinating. It was crazy to see the size of fish they used to be able to catch in the area, they were GIANT! After our chat he seated us in the lounge and we ordered some sweet potato fries and I still dream about them now. They first came in the cutest little container... second they were crispy outside and soft inside, they were perfectly delicious. They also came with the most amazing sauce, I found it had a little kick at the beginning but once you were used to it, it was delicious. I think it was called sweet chili mayo... yummmm!!
Brandon and I had a really nice walk in the afternoon... it was great to just be outside, in the sun surrounded by all the beautiful nature that is White Point. As soon as we walked out the door the bunny spotting and feeding began... and we LOVED it!

Four at once... turned into 6 pretty quickly once the food started to be handed out!
Brandon really wanted to see a black bunny and literally as soon as he said that, this little guy came bouncing out!
Back at our cottage for sunset... such a beautiful relaxing day!
This was the view on our walk to dinner, the moon was out, glowing and reflecting on the water it was pretty spectacular. I didn't take any pictures at dinner, the lights were dimmed, so it was hard to get a good shot. They had a buffet at dinner which was yummy and what I decided to have. Brandon ordered the ribs and was very satisfied with his choice. I had some yummy dessert and left comfortably full!
We headed back to our cottage and settled in for the night, Brandon built a warm fire and we just relaxed and watched some tv together... survivor started so you know that's what we watched!! Sadly we both didn't have the best night sleep, we were so tired from the busy day and all the fresh air, but were not used to the noises of the ocean. The wind was strong that night and they made the waves extra loud, we slept but just didn't wake up as rested as we would have liked.

Brandon had a massage at 8:45 am which he came from feeling nice and relaxed, I met him for breakfast afterwards. We both had the breakfast buffet which was WICKED... so much yummy food, we could have ate all day, but it was so filling that it wouldn't have been possible... I had the french toast, bacon, hash browns, fruit, muffin and croissants...awww thinking of it makes me hungry and there is nothing that delicious in our home right now.

We took one more walk before checking out at 11, and it was another perfect day... I think we had weather wise, the best two days of the week. The weather was warm and the sun was out!
We love White Point! Glad my camera didn't fall off the rock!
a self portrait because that's what we do!
our little black bunny friend was back today...
feeding the bunnies... loved it!
we enjoye watching the waves crash upon the shore...

Our last picture before we checked out. After checking out, I had my massage which was heavenly. It was my first massage and I think I will be wanting another one sooner then later because it was great. We headed back to the city and relaxed the rest of the day!

Thanks White Point for a fantastic night away!

Hi Karen,
My mom was the front desk manager there when I was in elementary school so we lived there during the summer. It was so fun!! They have made a lot of renovations since then with the indoor ppool etc but the feel of it is the same. We decided before we moved here that we would take the kids for a family vacation there and went to celebrate Canada Day in 2008. Alex still talks about it being his favorite place and we were only there 2 nights/3 days. LOVE IT!!! cangmet

Wow, what a great getaway! I had a pet bunny growing up, she was a longhair angora, just beautiful! I remember begging my parents for weeks to let me get her!

Also, Foosball is my closet talent. I'm pretty darn good at it! I don't think poor Nate has ever beat me, haha!!
